POEM

In the shade of a mouse’s kite,
in the rain falling on the jetty,
in the event of spiraling prices,
in the time it takes to pick cucumbers,
in the lilacs, in the anthem, in the resilient feathers of pheasants,
in German, in justice, in gratitude,
in whales that are only box kites, in patterns cut out of spirals,
in upside-down demographics, in the pockets of politicians,

are the twins.
